" Endangered Species ".

( Band on the Run ) 

"THEN and NOW".

Its presently the 16th February 2016  and Im trying to survive a Seachange after recently moving house; into the wild unkown and dealing with isolation. Its like "Starting Over" again and after 3 months off "Watching the Wheels go round" i feel  like "Stepping Out" .

Since moving in, I have just been exploring my area; theres 2 local beaches; a pool; acres of wild bush to explore which houses many "Endangered Species".

Many of my neighbours are also "Endangered Species" with many aged 65 and older. The waiting room of "God" is full of "Endangered Species" ; growing old and getting sick is no fun and the waiting time is painfull.

Im surrounded by Zombies, with much of the population self sedated on drugs and booze and living "one day at a time".

  Im living in a Zoo of humanity and a facing a challenge to normality, so I guess in time I will learn to fit in
. Im "Stepping Out" into a New World Order and ready to challenge anything that comes my way.

Now in retirement, its "Clean Up Time" and time to accept that "we" are all living on "Borrowed Time", so its essential that I get myself motivated and complete the several "literary" projects Ive been working on during 2014-2015

. 

Clean up time.

These projects include "The Greatest story never told", "The Lifes of Brian", "Aliens, Aliens Everywhere" and "In My Life". 

"ENDANGERED SPECIES"

Its been 37 years since Klaatu released their 4th album titled "Endangered Species" ( June 1980 ) and much New information has surfaced since I completed the original manuscript in 1982.

 This New information doesnt proove the "Real Identities" of the Klaatu members or disprove a "Beatles" connection with their recordings. 

For the first time, their album cover declared that KLAATU were 3 canadian musicians called "Terry Draper", "Dee Long" and "John Woloschuk" and featured a photo of them.

The band were only granted permission by Capitol Records, America to record and release a 4th album if they "revealed their identities".

 Produced by Christopher Bond who had previously produced albums for "Hall & Oats", "Maria Muldur" and "Ritchie Havens". 

New information that surfaced a couple of years ago claims that "studio musicians" were used to record the songs on the album and the 3 canadian musicians didnt play a note. They were brought in "only to record sections of the vocals" ( which is very strange ) and sent back to Toronto , Canada, where they lived.

" Why is it  that when they came out of the closet , Capitol Records boss "Rupert" felt decieved  and a few months later ordered that all the bands recordings be withdrawn from sale?". 

 "Why did the band allow "unidentified studio musicians" to record all the musical contents of the album and agree to only be responsible for  the vocals?".

  "Could it be that Capitol Records didnt believe that KLAATU were these 3 unknown Canadian musicians and suspected that either a SCAM had taken place or in fact, that the real identities of the Klaatu members included all the ex-Beatle members"?  

It seems to me, that as soon as these 3 Canadian musicians stepped forward claiming to be KLAATU the game was over and their record company wanted nothing to do with them. Forced to use studio musicians to record "Endangered Species" in order to release a new album seems very strange and was a total "Sell Out". 

Rumours surfaced that "Capitol Records" were threatening to "sue" Klaatu and its members for "Infringement of Copyright" and "False Representation".

 KLAATU became "The Band on the Run" whom fled back to Canada to record their own final album "Magentalane".

They managed to secure a local release of "Magentalane" in  1981 through EMI/Capitol Records of Canada before disbanding and fleeing to various parts of the globe. 

Klaatu became THE ENDANGERED SPECIES and THE BAND ON THE RUN.

It was during this period that John Lennon was murdered outside his New York resident by a "Madman" called Mark Chapman. 

MYSTERY MAN 

A few weeks before Lennons death I recieved a number of phone calls from an individual "Mr fs" whom claimed he was a well known Freelance Writer, living in Melbourne and said he was invited to Sydney by APRA ( Australian Performing Rights Association)  to " investigate " the possible "infringement of copyright" by the Canadian group KLAATU. 

I later wrote to both APRA and the Melbourne Journalist Association had never heard of the mysterious " Mr FS", strange indeed.

He appeared to know a great deal about both the Personel and business movements of both KLAATU and THE BEATLES and made some serious accusations concerning both parties.

 He said he had read my recent article " The Beatles are Back " (Pix/People mag 17/9/80. He wanted to identify what sections of the article was "written by me" or "by the editor "david Naylar and said there was a possibility of both of us being "Sued" for "Defamation" by Capitol Records .

"Mr FS" then went on to ask "what evidence would I be offering in my completed manuscipt"? and warned me that "legal action" may be taken out against me to prevent its publication.

 I went on to give him a great deal of information on its contents and he replied " that if the book presented all the facts ; including information supplied by him, then I shouldnt have any trouble in having my work published and make a lot of money. (Im still waiting ) 

Information supplied by "Mr FS" is as follows;

(1) That a Melbourne Private Investigation company called Smiths Mercantile Investigators had recently issued a "legal writ" against Klaatu charging them with "Extortion".

"After i got in contact by phone with the above company, I was told that the company had indeed spent a great deal of time and money investigating Klaatu and "could not say any more".
 They said they had never heard of "Mr FS" and wanted to know where he got his information from?. How did he know of their "investigations"?. I told them I could not supply answers to their questions , informing them that I was just as much in the dark as they were.

(2) That prior to 1976, Paul McCartneys house in St John Wood was broken into and a "number of private recording tapes" were stolen" or went "missing". On one of these tapes was the recording of a song that had identical musical arrangements to the Klaatu song "Sub Rosa Subway", found on their debut album. 

Apparently Paul McCartney has another "tape recording" of the song and can therefore "proove" that the song is "His" and that it was stolen by Klaatu.

"Mr FS" claimed that in the future there is a possibility that McCartney may sue" Klaatu.

McCartney would later produce a film around the same theme titled "Give my regards to Broad street".

(3) That John Lennon had or was about to "sue" a young man from Hawaii, who was writing and distributing articles throughout America claiming that "KLAATU were THE BEATLES".

 This individual was in his 20s/ living in Hawaii and a big Beatles fan.
  

We discussed a number of issues including Copyright laws. He suggested that if it was "exposed" that THE BEATLE members were involved they could be "sued" for "Infringement of Copyright" and would stand to lose much of their current wealth
.

Three weeks later, Lennon was shot dead by a guy in his 20s from Hawaii  for NO APPARENT motive; "could all this just be a co-incidence???"

"Could Mark Chapman have been the same person whom was in New York trying to get his KLAATU/BEATLES CONSPIRACY published by the global Press  and when he learned that Lennon was threatening to "silence" him, then decided to "silence Lennon".?

 Was Mark Chapman a "madman" or some-one trying to expose the "real identities of the Klaatu members?.

We will never know until Mark Chapman has the opportunity to tell his story.

I am now telling you, the reader My Story and I must allow you to draw your own conclusions from the information presented.

At times nothing seemed real and I questioned everything  and the years passed by .

  I remember at the time I saw a story in the paper that claimed that "Mark Chapman" was paid $30,000 to plead Guilty so the truth behind the motive for killing Lennon was never revealed.  

"A Conspiracy of Silence" was the rule and anyone whom stepped out of line would become an "Endangered Species".

Revealing this information I move to the Top of the Endangered list and yet I must tell my story before I pass into my next incarnation.

  

DEATH THREATS 

Strange events were happening and a few weeks after Lennons death I recieved my final phone call from "Mr FS" whom warned me to be carefull of exposing my findings on the BEATLES/KLAATU conspiracy or I may end up like John Lennon; DEAD....
..

. ( I have a full transcript of my phone conversations with this mysterious "Mr FS", which would surely open up a Pandoras Box if ever revealed.)  The original recordings mysteriously went missing after i typed out the conversation.  I suspect they were "stolen".

In fact, recently I discovered that "several pages" of my original manuscript dealing with the "Endangered Species" album have mysteriously gone missing.  I checked with a friend whom had a "safe copy" of the original manuscript whom checked the contents to discover the same "several pages" were missing from his copy. Strange indeed.

Im thinking; "is all this real? what the fuck is going on? perhaps I should "drop" the whole project that had absorbed 6 years of my life??? 

"Would I become the Man on the Run"? .

CONTACT 

In May 1979 I sent a letter to Klaatus manager Frank Davies whom wrote me a reply in late 1979. He said that the band was busy making an animated film "Happy New Year planet Earth" and were planning to do some "live concerts" in late 1980. He said that he has passed on my letter etc to  the members of the band and they would get back to me soon.  The "handwriting" of Mr Davies is strikingly similiar to the "handwriting" of "George Harrison". 

The "animated film" was to feature songs from their 1st 3 albums but for some reason I have only found ONE animated video of Klaatu:s "Routine Day"  and the full movie never surfaced.

My original manuscript contains a detailed review of most of the songs; musically and lyrically and offers a number of interesting Beatle connections. The Beatle/Klaatu links uncovered are staggering and without a doubt prove the existence of some sort of Conspiracy . Even though Klaatu claim Not to be The Beatles, they continued to "plant" Beatle Connections within their lyrics; their musical arrangements; their musical production and their albums artwork after they came out of the closet; "Why"? 

Their "Endangered Species" and "Magentalane" albums are saturated with links to The Beatles and they can not be dismissed as purely co-incidential.

 Regardless of Klaatu being identified as being "Terry Draper/Dee Long and John Woloschuk" , their 4th and last album "Magentalane" continued to provide direct links to the ex-Beatle members. 

Soon after the release of their 5th album they disbanded and the 3 individuals disappeared from the scene.

With Capitol Records USA still threatening "legal action" against Klaatu, the members made themselves invisable and disappeared for a few years.   

STRANGE EVENTS 

On the 1st APRIL 1980 I recieved a "black and white photo" of the 3 Klaatu members from Capitol Records, Los Angeles, it contained No Identification to whom it was from. I phoned Capitol Records whom couldnt identify the individual whom had sent me the photo.

 I phoned EMI Records in sydney whom told me they had NOT recieved any photos of Klaatu because they simply didnt exist.  It was another Mystery that remains unsolved.

Strangely, Frank Davies, Klaatus manager originally claimed that when the band did reveal their true identities that it would take place on the 1st APRIL. ( APRIL FOOLS DAY).

I remember reading an artcicle that at a concert by WINGS held on the 1st APRIL Paul McCartney finished the concert by saying " See you when the Earth stands still). This is a direct reference to KLAATU, is it not? 

The photo is very interesting and contains numerous Beatle connections, take a look at my comparisons here and make up your own mind. One has to question "has the photo been touched up?" The 3 individuals look amazing similar to the pics of Lennon, Harrison and McCartney presented. 

The overall layout/design of the Klaatu photo is almost "identical" to the front cover of John Lennons "Mind Games" album and may suggest that "Klaatu" are playing "Mind Games" as well. 

Both the Klaatu profile pic and the "Mind Games" album feature "profile pics of the individuals"/ " two mysterious planets in the sky" and the design is "split evenly across the middle". If one measures the distances between each pic they will find the layout measurements almost identical. "Could this again be purely co-incidental?".

To recieve this photo only confirmed my suspicions that there was some BEATLES/KLAAU conspiracy going on and that I was part of the Game.
Cloak and dagger tactics were in play and secret communications were unfolding and much happen before I completed my original manuscript in 1982.

The "Endangered Species" album, although well produced and contained well crafted songs, it had a short shelf life before being withdrawn from sale and yet remains an interesting and enjoyable album.

MYSTERY WOMAN 

Another strange event took place during late 1980 when I recieved a phone call from an  unidentified female whom claimed that "KLAATU had just arrived in Melbourne to give their 1st Live concert" and she gave me the numbers of the individuals involved in their management of their Australian visit.
I phone these numbers, their record company, major hotels and NO ONE knew of such an event. For some reason, I had been led up the garden path and made a fool of. I couldnt phone the woman back because she wouldnt give me her name and number; I was taken for a ride.

ARTWORK

The artwork and noted credits on "Endangered Species" present some fascinating links to The Beatle members, one in particular is the reference to the "I.U.C.N " located in Morges, Switzerland. (International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resorces). 

I wrote to this organization whom wrote back to tell me that they had never heard of a band called Klaatu and were unware of the album and the reference to their organization.  I sent my contact a cassette tape of some of Klaatus songs as she had informed me that she tried to purchase their albums but they werent available.  She was a Beatle fan and said she was impressed by the recordings of Klaatu and thanked me. 

She said that as far as she knew None of The ex-Beatles or the Klaatu members were Members of the organization.
"Julia" was a great help "all those years ago".

In Oct 79, the Ozzie Press reported that "three of the ex-Beatles had agreed to give a re-union in aid of the Vietnamese Refugee crisis; to be held in Geveva, SWITZERLAND.
 Lennon claimed that he was too busy and planning a Japanese holiday. 

Strangely, John and Yoko did visit Switzerland in late 1979, where they attended a television screening of their avantguarde film "The Rape". 

As far as I know The Beatles re-union concert never took place.

I discovered that the I.U.C.N. recieved financial assistance from such organizations as UNESCO and THE WORLD WILDLIFE FUND. 

During the 1970s, Lennon donated a version of his song "Across the Universe" to an All Star charity album titled "No-ones gonna change my world". All profits from the sale of the album went to THE WORLD WILDLIFE FUND,

In Sept 76, Wings performed a charity concert in Venice in aid of the UNESCO organization , which helps fund I.U.C.N.

In July 1979 Future-Life magazine published the below "animated pic" of Klaatu, which shows 5 individuals about to board a Gondola in Venice.  The pic comes from a "still" of Klaatus proposed animated film "Happy New Year planet Earth" which never saw the light of day. 

Strangely, 

McCartney spent most of late 1980 working on his own "animated film" titled "Rupert Bear"; a full length feature film featuring music and songs produced by Paul and George Martin.

 In the Klaatu song "Sell Out, Sell Out" we find the lyrics " Come out of the clouds SIR RUPERT said and do what Stevie did" which presents food for thought. 

The architecture of the building in the background of both the Wings pic and the Klaatu pic  again is "identical", which Im sure is just purely co-incidental.? The reader should read Chapter Six for more links between these two pics. 

Returning to "Endangered Species and the I.U.C.N"  both instanced stated earlier proves a Swiss connection between Lennon/McCartney and Klaatu. In fact, McCartney recorded a great album titled "Wildlife" and was known as a strong Conservationist and vegetarian.

 In fact the song " Wildlife" was released as a Single in 1982 and all profits went to the Conservation project "Save the Franklin River in Tasmania".

Compassion for nature and life can be found everywhere in song lyrics by McCartney.  Similiar beliefs can be found expressed throughtout the Endangered Species album and one should take a good listen to the albums "Double Fantasy"/ Milk and Honey"

 by Lennon. Check out McCartneys "Tug of War" and  "McCartney 11". 

 Harrisons "Somewhere in England" and "Gone Troppo" 

are also expressing concerns over Conservation issues. 

In the case of George Harrison, he would have to have been the most vocal member of the ex-Beatles regarding Conservation groups. He had a deep interest in "exotic plants and lifeforms" and in his book we find the statement; "Dedicated to all Gardeners everywhere".  

 George spent a great deal of his spare time working in the massive gardens of his Friar Park mansion and often stated that he considered himself a "gardener".

In 1981 Ringo was singing to us "Stop and smell the Roses" from his album of the same name. In the song he sings; "Stop and buy this album so that I can stay at home and plant roses all day". 

Lennons "Double Fantasy" is named after an "Orchid" which John came across whilst strolling through the Botanical Gardens in the Bahamas. 

McCartney had 2 albums titled "Red Rose Speedway" and "Flowers in the dirt" which both relate to an interest in botanical issues. 

The " I.U.C.N ". couldnt identify any of the acquatic or flora species featured on the front and back covers of the "Endangered Species" album and suggested that they were all "imaginary/fantasy".

 

The most interesting item on the front cover of the "Endangered Species" album is the appearance of " a Sunboat with Wings" . 

Remember the claim by the bands manager that "each new album would provide more clues to the identity of the Klaatu members"? 

Their first 3 albums all featured the classic Klaatu SUN on their covers but this time, on their 4th album , the SUN can be seen on the sails of an anti-gravity Spaceship with Wings. "Could this fact be a reference to Pauls 2nd band Wings????".

A very similiar looking Klaatu SUN can also be found on the Harrison album "Gone Troppo" which was released in 1982.  The SUN can also be seen on the below Lennon album.

On the back cover of the album can be found a mysteriously "man-made submarine with Yellow lights atop" which reminds one of The Beatles "Yellow Submarine". Could this be another "hidden clue" to the real identities of the Klaatu members??

Like all previous Klaatu albums, we also find both the "Mouse" mascot and the strange 7H symbol . Could this "7H" symbols be related to Harrisons record lable  DARK HORSE which features " a horse with 7 heads"? 

The artwork for all of the albums by Klaatu is the work of "Ted Jones"; another mysterious character with possible links to Ringo Starr.

Looking back to 1980 when the "Endangered Species" album was released, I discovered that all 4 ex-beatles had no other recording commitments during late 1979 when the album was recorded.

 They all reportedly visited Switzerland during late 1979 and they all had business dealings and connections in Los Angeles, where "ES" was recorded. 

 Both Ringo and George had their own record lables based in Los Angeles whilst Paul often used the "Wally Heider Studios" in L.A. to record.

  Strangely, on the vynal pressing of "Endangered Species" can be found the name "Wally" engraved, which may be a reference to the L.A. studio used by McCartney from time to time.

As stated earlier the lyrics and musical arrangements of the songs contained on the "Endangered Species" contain numerous Beatle connections and the reader should compare these to those found on "Back to the Egg"/ McCartney 11/ Tug of War" by McCartney.

 

Likewise check out Lennons "Double Fantasy" and "Milk and Honey" albums. 

The Harrison albums "George Harrison" and "Gone Troppo" contain further links with Klaatu .

 Ringos "Stop and Smell the Roses" also contains similiar links. Many contain "song lyrics centred around similar themes and topics" and also contain many musical comparisons. 

One needs to spend time exploring these recordings to uncover the "fingerprint" of the composer, as we all have our own unique style.

 I have spent thousands of hours listening to these albums and never tire of their brilliance. 

THE SONGS.

1. I CANT HELP IT.

Reminiscent of many of the songs on The Beatles "Abbey Road" album and features similiar lyric lines found in Harrisons song "Soft Touch".

2. KNEE DEEP IN LOVE.

Very reminiscent of songs off The Beatles "Double White" and "Abbey Road" albums  and similar lyric lines can be found in Lennons song "Going down on love" and Yokos "She gets down on her knees" from their albums "Walls and Bridges" and "Seasons of Glass" respectively.

3. PARANOIA.

Similiar to many of the songs found on "Double White" album by The Beatles and songs on Lennons last 2 albums. Similiar lyric lines can be found in Lennons "Watching the Wheels" and Ringos "Oh my my" from their "Double Fantasy" and "Ringo" albums. Musical similarities can also be found in the songs "I found out"/ "Well, well, well" and "Cold Turkey" by Lennon.

4. HOWL AT THE MOON

Musically it reminds me of The Beatles song "Fixing a Hole" from their "Sgt Pepper" album and the vocals sound very George Harrisonish. The song features a similiar beginning found in the songs "Starting Over" and "Beautiful Boy" by Lennon off his "Double Fantasy" album. Similiar lyric lines can be found in Lennons "Well, well, well"/ and in Harrisons "That which I have lost" and in McCartneys "Babys Request". 

5. SET THE WORLD ON FIRE.

A definate Lennon song and remiscent of his songs "I dont want to be a soldier", "Meat City" and "Revolution". Similiar lyrics can be found in Lennons "Im Losing you" and both centre around the theme of "lost communication". 

6. HOT BOX CITY

Musically very Harrisonish ( Crackerbox Palace)  with a sharp Lennonish punch. Contains similiar lyrics found in "Miss Odell" by Harrison and a number of McCartney lyrics dealing with "driving cars in the smog". 

In Harrisons book "I, Me, Mine" George declares "motor cars are polluters" and yet spends many months each year living and driving through the "smog filled streets of Los Angeles". 

7. DOG STAR

A very Lennonish sounding song which contains a number of lyrical similarities found in such songs as " All those years ago"/ "Its all too much",/ "Save the world" by George Harrison. 

Similar lyrics are also found on "No9 Dream", "God" and "Across the Universe" by John Lennon. The song features a similar riff found on the Lennon and Bowie song "Fame".

 Other similar lyrics/ themes can be found on Yoko Onos "Spec of Dust" song from her "Its Alright" album. 

8. SELL OUT, SELL OUT.

This song contains many musical comparisons and lyrical contents with those songs by The Beatles and their solo recordings.

 In Lennons biography "John Lennon" by Ray Connolly Lennon claims that "he hates to be misconstrued" whilst in the book "Lennon Remembers" by Jann Werner Lennon states; "Im not interested in anything else but the money and I dont care at whose expense I have to do to obtain it". Similiar sentiments can be found expressed in this excellent Klaatu song. 

 Meanwhile George can be heard declaring "Im most interested where all the money goes". To become Rich and Famous one HAS TO "Sell out".

9 ALL GOOD THINGS

The song is reminiscent of the Beatle songs "The End", "Her majesty", "Blackbird" , "I will", "Julia" and "Martha My dear". It is also similiar to the McCartney song "Im carrying something" from the Wings "London Town" album.

  

Some readers still may ask "Where is the proof that The Beatles may have been involved with the recordings of Klaatu"? to which I reply "surely where there is smoke there is fire". The fact that KLAATU were being investigated for "Extortion" during this period clearly proves that something "odd" was going on . The fact that when the Klaatu members came out of the closet and revealed their identities, their record lable "didnt believe them" and soon withdrew the sales of all their recordings from the market worldwide proves the "existence" of some sort of Conspiracy.  

I have "uncovered" a ton of evidence which supports the existence of a Beatles/Klaatu Conspiracy and which is far too volumous to include in this Blogg. The "evidence" thus presented here "clearly" suggests some sort of "involvement" of the ex-beatles with the recordings of Klaatu. "

 Perhaps the 3 canadian musicians were just "patsies/ fall guys" who would take the blame should the real story be uncovered?"

 All of the evidence presented in my complete manuscript clearly suggests that some sort of Conspiracy was perputrated on the music world and the players have got away with the scam.  I appear to be one of a few people that "still questions" the entire debate as to the real identities of the Klaatu members.

summing up

Yes, The Beatle connections are real and all that I have written is real and actually happened. During this period I helped make Klaatu a success through out the world and was assisted by various individuals to achieve this. I was " playing my part" in promoting their music and making them  rich and famous . I was hoping to eventually get my manuscript "Under an assumed name (The Beatles/Klaatu Conspiracy)" and make a few bucks myself but after recieving a "death threat" and "threats of legal action" and my marriage falling apart I fled into the wilderness and went underground. I stopped writing/ took on a regular day job and lived in shared accomodation. I became " the man on the run" and at times wondered if I would EVER get the opportunity to TELL MY STORY.   

Finally in 2015/2016,   I  have the chance to tell My Story to the world before ill health takes me from this world. (We ALL aint getting any younger). 

Since NO Publisher has the balls to print/publish my story or can afford to buy the story, then Posting it on my Blogg "utaalkbackwards.blogspot.com" is the 2nd Best option. 

Perhaps the story will be read by only a handfull of readers or perhaps long after Im gone the story will be discovered by the millions?.   

All true Klaatu and Beatle fans should read ALL the 7 Chapters in my Blogg and then draw their own conclusions as to whether a Beatles/Klaatu conspiracy did take place or not?. 

My next  Chapter ( Chapter 9 ) will centre around the release of Klaatus final album "Magentalane" in 1981 and will detail my communications with both George Harrison and Terry Draper.  It will cover events between 1980- 1982 and present Beatle links found on the "Magentalane" album. New photos of Klaatu emerge and "live" concerts take place. Links to Lennon and McCartney are strongly present and invites more mystery as to the real "identities" of ALL the members of Klaatu. A brilliant Farewell album.

This FINAL CHAPTER will present Information obtained by late 1982 when my manuscript was completed.
To discover Information on Klaatu after 1982 the reader will have to do their own Research and Draw their own Conclusions as to whether a "Beatles/Klaatu Conspiracy" did take place.
